My name is Mark Abbott. I am the founder, CEO, janitor and chief bottle washer of Heimili Yggdrasils, LLC. I know, the name is a mouthful. That is why I refer to the company as H.Y. Woodworks. A great deal easier to say and cheaper to print on stuff! The name has some personal meaning for me and conveys some of the reasons I am doing this.
Heimili Yggdrasils” is ancient Norse for “Home of the World Tree”. In Norse mythology, Yggdrasil was the World Tree – the tree that Earth was supported by and whose roots permeated the entire world, bringing life to everything. I am not saying our product is anywhere near that important – just that what I make it is meant to be from the heart, inspired by a deep sense of connectivity to life and what is around us all the time, and a sincere attempt to share that with you. That is why nothing I make is from a CNC machine or mass produced. If you buy something from HY Woodworks, I made it. I had my hands on it at every stage. It is from me to you, and though there may have been a pattern involved and others are super similar, it is unique by definition.

Cardinal/Robin Nesting Box – Cardinals and Robins, are birds that prefer a Nesting Box rather than a fully enclosed birdhouse. Other birds are typically referred to as “crevice dwellers”, meaning they prefer things more closed in and holes to enter their home. Cardinals and Robins prefer nesting boxes. These are made of cedar with the advantages there in. They can come plain and lacquered at $25 or painted as the one shown for $30. Cardinals and Robins prefer somewhat irregular patters of green and browns and grey. More birdhouses coming SOON!
Countertop Egg Barn – 20.75” by 9.75. Shown is the 36 egg capacity barn. Can be done in 24 capacity for $5 less. Pinewood shelves are stained with a protective gloss stain. The “barn” sides are also pine and painted with acrylic and covered with a matte finish.
NOTE ONLY farm eggs are stable to be displayed on counter tops. Store bought eggs undergo a wash that destroys their naturally protective coating.
Garden Trug – 15” by 9.25 and 6.5 deep. Gardening companion for gathering or taking tools to the garden. The ends and handle are pine. The bottom and sides are plywood for durability and stability. It is also covered in multiple coats of clear lacquer.
Planter box – cedar and lacquer like the smaller one (herb planter).About 20.75” by 9.75.
